WHY ATTEND
Be part of the impossible!

Unique. Imaginative. Essential.

Pioneering.

Iteration22 brings together world-class leaders in tech and engineering to rethink, reshape and iterate on visions for modern ways to develop hardware.

We may not be reinventing the wheel, but we seek a new balance between people and systems, closing gaps between world-changing ideas, agile processes and tactile reality.

Embedded in the welcoming landscape of the Portuguese capital, Iteration22 is all about forward-thinking engineering that kicks off to a bright collaborative future.

We are ready to seed the next impossible iterations yet to come. Are you?

VENUE
Tejo Power Station, Lisbon

Tejo Power Station was a thermoelectric power plant that supplied power to the entire Lisbon region. Built in 1908, its production activity took place between 1909 and 1972 although, as of 1951, it was used as a reserve power plant, producing only to complement the energy supply of the hydroelectric plants.

Over time, the plant underwent several modifications and expansions, going through continuous stages of construction and alteration of its production systems. Its transformation from an industrial to a cultural mission achieved a milestone with the opening of the MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in 2016, contrasting with its organic modern architecture the classic brick buildings on the attractive leisure riverside in Belém, Lisbon.

A fertile soil for planting the future of engineering at Iteration22!

SPEAKERS
Livingston Holder
Chief Technology Officer, Radian Aerospace

It’s good to know how things work:

Continuing to evolve the art of space transportation

A former USAF astronaut in the Manned Spaceflight Engineer Program during the mid-1980s, Livingston is a leading executive with 30+ years experience in aerospace systems management, engineering, planning, and operations. Livingston held many senior positions and is well known in the aerospace industry to commercial companies, and various arms of the Department of Defense and National Security Space community.

Daria Stepanova
CTO, German Orbital Systems GmbH

Rockets will not wait:

how to balance between reliability, customer value and budget when building complex systems with fixed launch date

German Orbital Systems focuses on turnkey satellite missions, providing components and systems for small spacecrafts. Daria has been leading teams for total 11 small satellite missions including Earth Observation, IoT and Scientific and Technology demonstration missions. As a CTO, she has unique expertise on how small satellite projects are conducted, how fast innovations in aerospace can be implemented, and how agile and fast can this sector be.

Daniel Brunner
Co-Founder & CTO, Commonwealth Fusion Systems

How to succeed at concurrent R&D and design to reduce time to market

CFS has developed a revolutionary new high-field superconducting magnet technology that will reduce the size, cost, and timeline to fusion energy. CFS has raised over $2B and is presently building SPARC in Devens, MA to demonstrate net energy from fusion for the first time. Here, Dan built and led a team of over 50 engineers and is in charge of the CFS technology roadmap, intellectual property, and building the team to design ARC, which aims to put electricity on the grid from fusion within a decade.

Marco Witzmann
CEO, Valispace

Why modularized product development is the holy grail of hardware engineering.

Valispace provides a browser-based engineering software that helps engineers collaboratively develop better complex products across several industries. Marco is a former satellite systems engineer. He is eager to make CTOs and Techleads learn from each other, so that hardware development can in the coming 10 years make the same leap forward that software development has done in the past decade.

Joe Justice
CEO, WIKISPEED

Everyone must be a chief engineer: what I learned working for Elon Musk

Joe Justice is author of Scrum Master, published in 7 languages. He has worked with Bill Gates, the leadership team at Amazon, and operated the Agile program at Tesla for Elon Musk. Joe founded WIKISPEED, an example of automotive design and production speed in a fun, egalitarian culture.
